Jim is a graduate of Gordon Conwell Theological Seminary with a Master of Arts in Christian Counseling (MACC), Columbia International University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Bible and Church Ministries. He is licensed in the state of North Carolina as a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor (LCMHC) and is a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional (CCTP).      

Jim specializes in working with men and the many issues they may face, such as unwanted same-sex attraction, male survivors of sexual abuse, pornography, and sexual addiction, anxiety, depression, relationship problems, anger, career, and job changes. He also specializes in counseling male teens, ages 14 -18. In addition, Jim counsels women who are experiencing unwanted same-sex attraction, anxiety, depression, and relationship problems. He enjoys counseling couples for premarital and marital counseling. Jim also provides career counseling, helping clients find direction for their vocations in life. As a Christian counselor, he is available to assist people spiritually and theologically with problems and questions they may have about their spiritual life and the Christian faith.

Before earning his Master’s degree in counseling, Jim was a former Ministry Director and Pastoral Counselor of Clean Heart Ministries, working with men, women, and teens who desired to overcome unwanted same-sex attraction.        

As a counselor, Jim offers a compassionate and empowering approach to help clients understand themselves better and to live their life according to their own self- determination. He employs an eclectic approach in counseling using a variety of methods and modalities such as Psychodynamic Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Experiential Therapy, Narrative Therapy, and Solution Focused Therapy. Jim is also a Certified Prepare & Enrich Facilitator and Certified Symbis Facilitator helping couples understand each other and themselves better in their marriage.
